This interactive workshop teaches participants how to set up a “Family Command Center” in their homes: a centrally-located station designed to route the flow of daily paperwork coming into and out of the home. It is the place to store important information so it is easily accessible to all family members. It is also the place to manage household communications and activities. The main exercise is highly interactive — participants will bring along a stack of paperwork or a few days’ worth of mail from home, and set up their very own desktop file box during the workshop. Allowing them to sort and organize their own paperwork during the workshop is incredibly powerful. They leave with a ready-to-use filing box, putting them on the path toward success. You’ll also go over the other necessary components of an effective family command center, such as a Family Resource Binder. The participants will leave the workshop feeling empowered, inspired, and ready to get their paperwork under control!

“Going green” is a top trend these days. And it’s easy to incorporate it into organizing! This workshop starts with a fun ice-breaker quiz to assess the participants’ levels of eco-organization. Then, on to the educational “Eco-Friendly Around the House” exercise, which shows how to incorporate the 3 R’s — reduce, reuse, and recycle — into our daily lives. faq’s

Will women pay to attend an at-home organizing workshop?
If you are targeting women between the ages of 20-60, YES! This sales model is already set up by multi-million dollar companies like Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Lia Sophia, Tastefully Simple, and Tupperware. They all work on the premise of a girls’ night out and all ask participants to spend money as part of the event. For the Girls’ Night Out Organizing Workshops, you are not asking them to purchase products but to make a small investment in your organizing knowledge and expertise. In lieu of a professional organizer’s standard fee for an individual, in-home organizing session, selling an evening with an organizer to answer everyone’s organizing questions for a minimal fee is easy. Consider how much women are willing to pay for a yoga class or continuing education class (often $10 – $50 each). Remember to focus on value over price!

Couldn’t I just create my own workshop and save the $49?
Your time as a business owner is valuable! Do you think you’d be able to create the workshop — from concept to completion — for less than $49? Are you willing to pay for the expertise, time, proofing, designing, and testing it takes to get to the final product? Booking just one workshop will more than pay for your investment, and chances are, you’ll make it back many times over with both the participant workshop fees and new clients you book due to your workshop exposure. Another thing to consider is that this expense may be a tax deduction for your business.

Will I be selling products at the workshops?
In most cases, no. The most important thing to provide is lots of good organizing information that the participants can take home and use in their daily lives. But if you have an organizing product or two that you love, feel free to sell.

I don’t feel comfortable charging for the workshop. Do I have to charge a fee?
This is entirely up to you. If you’d like to offer these workshops strictly as a way to get your name out there — without charging a fee — that is fine. But truly, this workshop was designed to bring you an additional revenue stream, so please don’t underestimate the value you are providing to the participants.

Can I customize the participant materials?
Some of the workshop materials are in PDF, which are not editable. PDFs allow me to provide a professional, easy-to-open document for all my customers. They also allow me to make sure the files look the same to everyone who opens them (unlike other formats that may require fonts and/or graphics to be sent along with them and then loaded onto the recipient’s computer). That being said, I provide the invitation postcards, flyers, sign-up sheets, drawing slips, and feedback forms in Word format so you can customize those as needed.
