We used to keep the cereal bowls in the cupboard above the dishwasher, right next to the matching plates. Seems logical to keep the matching set together, right? But then, by happy accident one day, my son was unloading the dishwasher and put the bowls in the pantry instead, right above the cereal boxes.
Well, it’s logical! Leave it to a 12-year-old to figure that keeping the bowls right next to the cereal that will be poured into them is just common sense.
Take a look in your kitchen cupboards today. What could be rearranged to make life more convenient? Perhaps you could move the mugs closer to the coffee maker. Or reassign something you use only a few times a year to a more out-of-the-way space (like up high or way down low) to give some “prime real estate” space to things you use every day. The kids’ plastic cups or snacks could be moved down low so they can help themselves.
